Clayton Glass Goes Soft!

This year sees the 50^th anniversary of Clayton Glass and what better way to celebrate this illustrious history than to bring to market the ultimate in cutting edge IGU manufacture.

Further to the installation of our specialist manufacturing cell, trials are now completed and Clayton Glass for the first time is able to offer soft coated units to the general trade market.

Whilst for the meantime at least Pilkington K will remain our core Low E product, we are now able to manufacture a full range of sealed units in soft coated low e, providing a significantly enhanced U value than the hard coated equivalent.

Combined with argon gas, standard aluminium spacer Soft Coated units will have a U Value of 1.1, some 40% better than standard Low E glasses.

Further still, when combine with Warm Edge Technology, indicative tests for a window suggest the overall U Value to be reduced further still, with a Warm Edge, Soft Coated and Argon filled unit coming in at around 1.0, sufficient to meet the most stringent of thermal requirements. Also available are combinations of soft coated and solar control glass products, to provide the ultimate on both solar gain reduction and thermal insulation.

Initially, Soft Coated units will be sold as a high spec niche product, offered with a choice of three spacer technologies and three sealant types to accommodate a wide range of uses.
