Continuing with its programme to offer cutting edge products Clayton Glass has recently invested a substantial sum in new equipment. A new specialist manufacturing cell has been established to run alongside its volume production lines in order to handle the increasing number of high specification products being manufactured. This new cell includes everything required to make a sealed unit, providing Clayton Glass with three entirely self sufficient production lines across a number of differing technologies and disciplines.

Primarily this new facility will be geared towards the production of newly launched Warm Edge and SMARTGLASS products, providing a specialist environment for the manufacture of these high end products, whilst freeing up time on the fully automated lines to increase the available capacity of standard IGU’s. With a four brush wash and roller press, a choice of three spacer technologies, warm edge applicators, flotation table, argon gas and two sealant stations this versatile new facility is set to produce over 500 additional units weekly to a wide variety of high tech specifications, shapes and sizes.

In the following months this facility will be built upon and used to research in bringing pioneering new technologies to market, without causing undue pressure on existing busy standard lines. Edge deletion will be added in the summer meaning Clayton Glass will be able to combine the thermal benefits of Warm Edge, Soft Coat and Argon gas to bring to the market the ultimate in thermal performance units.
